2009 STATE SWIMMING CARNIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

Highlights of the 10-12’s and 13-18 NSW state swimming carnival at SOPAC (January 5th-11th) include:

  • Zoe Johnson (15 years) winning the 200m Butterfly (2:16:42) and the 100m butterfly (1:01.50) in a new record.
  • Nicole Chen (11 years) winning the 100m Freestyle(1:04.06), 50m  freestyle (28.83), 200m Freestyle (2:19.48), and the 100m Fly (1:11.43). Plus a host of minor medals.
  • Christina Ouzas, Nicole Chen, Jasmine Choi-Christou, Lauren Sloane  are the title holders for the 200m medley relay (2:12.30) and the 200m Freestyle relay in a new state record (1:56.73)

A number of PLC students achieved personal bests and for the Sydney Swim club members there results and achievements have come down to the fantastic support and coaching from the Sydney Swim club coaches especially Pancha. The non club members who swam for their clubs also achieved some fantastic results and this puts us in a strong position for the up-coming IGSSA carnival. Highlights from the non club swimmers include…

  • Kahlia Elliot (16 years) 1st in the 50 freestyle 26.8 and 2nd in both the 100fly and 100 free (57.71)
  • Catherine Macarounas (14 years) 2nd in the 100m breastroke (1:17.37), 3rd in the 200m Breastroke (2:46.17).
  • Brooke Dodson (16yrs) was a member of the winning 400m freestyle relay team (Liverpool)
