Zoe Johnson on the big stage at the Australian Swimming Championships

Sydney Swim PLC swimmer Zoe Johnson put her name and her club up in lights with her great performances at the Australian Swimming Championships. Up against the best senior swimmers in Australia for the first time, she qualified for the finals of the 100m and 200m Butterfly, where she posted best times.

2009 STATE SWIMMING CARNIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

Highlights of the 10-12’s and 13-18 NSW state swimming carnival at SOPAC (January 5th-11th) include:

  • Zoe Johnson (15 years) winning the 200m Butterfly (2:16:42) and the 100m butterfly (1:01.50) in a new record.
  • Nicole Chen (11 years) winning the 100m Freestyle(1:04.06), 50m  freestyle (28.83), 200m Freestyle (2:19.48), and the 100m Fly (1:11.43). Plus a host of minor medals.
  • Christina Ouzas, Nicole Chen, Jasmine Choi-Christou, Lauren Sloane  are the title holders for the 200m medley relay (2:12.30) and the 200m Freestyle relay in a new state record (1:56.73)

SSC girls star at Pacific School Games 2008

nicoleThe Eighth Pacific School Games (PSG) was held from November 30 to December 6 in Canberra and brought together close to 5000 competitors from primary and secondary schools from 25 countries.  The Inner-West Weekly newspaper featured a great article on the performance of  PLC swimmers at the Pacific School Games this month.

Reporter Shireen Khalik wrote: “PLC Sydney swimmers Kailah Elliott and Nicole Chen scooped up a long list of medals, bringing the school’s tally to 10 at the Pacific School Games this month. ”

PLC win third IGSSA swimming championship in a row

A huge congratulations to our PLC Sydney Swimming Team on their remarkable success last Friday at the IGSSA Swimming carnival.  PLC Sydney has now won the IGSSA Swimming Carnival for the third consecutive year and this year it was by more than one hundred points.

PLC Sydney’s record breaking performance included winning all three categories in Division 1: junior, intermediate and senior, and making it into every final. All girls swam brilliantly and as well as winning eighteen first places in the finals they also broke six records.

PLC school team wins IGSSA again in 2008

The senior PLC Sydney swimming team won the overall point score at the IGSSA championships for the second year in a row. Special congratulations to Christina Ouzas (Year 7) who was named Equal Junior Champion at the IGGSA Swimming Carnival.

From the IGSSA Swimming Carnival a PLC Sydney team of twenty-two students were selected to compete at the NSWCIS Swimming Championships held on 29April.

Metro results 2007

Our regular top performers Kailah Elliott, Ian Sarno and Ciaran Morgan, led the way with multiple medals at the recent Metropolitan Championships.  Paul Sindone and Caitlin Merrett gained bronze medals and our up and coming youngest team member at the Championships ‘Young Bullet Nicole Chen’ also gained a bronze.

Sydney Swim PLC punches above weight at Age Nationals 2007

SSC PLC Went to Nationals with just four swimmers: Kailah Elliott, Ian Sarno, Caitlin Merrett and Zoe Johnson. We won more medals than several larger teams.
